LED lighting

LED lighting

LED has a long lifetime and low energy consumption. LED lighting in greenhouse horticulture also ensures higher yields, earlier flowering of the plants, faster root growth and better control of plant growth. Stolze is a Philips LED Horti Partner. As a selected Philips partner, we are closely involved in the development of LED lighting in greenhouse horticulture. Philips supports its partners in projects and field tests, including with plant physiologists who make their knowledge of light recipes available.

Stolze offers various LED lighting solutions for successful and energy-efficient cultivation. Roughly speaking, we make a distinction between vegetable cultivation and ornamental plant cultivation.

LED lighting in vegetable cultivation

LED grow lights contribute to higher yields for tomatoes and cucumbers. It also offers the grower more flexibility in his planning early in the season and LED promotes the health of the crop. The shelf life of lettuce and leafy vegetables is increased by LED lighting, while the vegetables develop a deeper colour and more flavour. Also with fruit, it is possible to control flavour using LED. These are just a few examples of proven results of LED lighting in fruit and vegetable cultivation.

LED lighting in ornamental plant cultivation

We know from experience that LED lighting boosts the growth and flowering of flowers and plants. LED modules can replace or supplement natural light to enhance every aspect of the crop. For example, cut flowers become stronger and remain fresh for longer. For bedding plants, we use LED lighting in both propagation and finishing, for strong and compact plants with many branches.

“There are still many choices to be made within LED lighting. For example, the light level in µmol/s², the colour spectrum, the uniformity of the light and the timing. In short, LED offers you limitless options.”
