Water storage

Water storage in horticulture

A crop cannot survive without water. That is why water storage is essential to ensure the availability of water and access to high-quality irrigation water. Efficient water storage in horticulture is not only important for water use, circular water consumption also requires a proper water storage system. It goes without saying that water storage also contributes to sustainable horticulture.

Stolze offers water silos, water basins and underground water storage for the storage of rainwater, condensation water, irrigation water and drainage water. Of course with a cover of your choice to monitor water quality. A cover ensures less algae growth, prevents leaves in the water, prevents evaporation and keeps the water temperature low.

Installer of the Rainlevelr system

By participating in Rainlevelr, Dutch growers contribute to keeping dry feet by making room in their rainwater basin or silo before a heavy shower. They do this on a voluntary basis. Delfland informs the growers about the precipitation forecast and lets them know when more space is needed. Rainlevelr is a partnership between the Delfland Water Board, the municipality of Westland, Greenhouse Horticulture Netherlands, Lans and other greenhouse growers. Stolze installs the entire system according to Rainlevelr’s guidelines.

"Horticulture depends on water. That's obvious. Even though we are increasingly recycling drain water, good water storage is essential."
