Fast charger for electric truck at Ter Laak Orchios

The transition to electric transport requires more than just a vehicle. Without reliable charging infrastructure, sustainable logistics cannot move forward. For Ter Laak Orchios, the investment in an electric truck was therefore directly linked to the installation of a powerful fast charger at their own site.

With four locations and 22.5 hectares of Phalaenopsis production, daily transport between sites and to the auction is essential. The truck operates continuously in the Westland region, requiring a charging solution that provides full reliability within day-to-day operations. For advice and implementation, Ter Laak Orchios chose Stolze.

Charging infrastructure for heavy-duty transport

An electric truck requires different technical specifications compared to passenger vehicles. Power capacity, charging speed and grid connection are key factors. Stolze delivered a DC fast‑charging solution that fully charges the truck in approximately 2.5 hours.

Because the battery charges up to 80% at high speed, intermediate charging moments are also efficient. In addition, the installation is prepared for expansion with a second charging point. As a result, the charging infrastructure is scalable and future-proof.

Technical integration and subsidy guidance

The process began with an assessment of the required power capacity, the existing grid connection and the integration within the current electrical infrastructure. We also explored subsidy opportunities for heavy-duty electric charging infrastructure, enabling part of the investment to be optimised.

Since commissioning, the installation has been running reliably and supports the daily transport operations.

Part of a broader energy strategy

The fast charger is not a standalone investment. Ter Laak Orchios is working on further optimisation of its energy management, including battery storage. The charging solution is technically prepared for this, enabling generated energy to be used efficiently within the overall energy system.

Collaboration based on expertise

The choice for Stolze was partly based on many years of collaboration and in‑depth knowledge of the existing installations.
“Stolze knows our installations and contributes valuable technical input. We thoroughly reviewed all technical and financial aspects together before making a decision. That gives confidence when investing at this scale.”

With this customer case, Stolze demonstrates that its electrotechnical expertise goes beyond the greenhouse. Stolze also provides integrated, future‑oriented solutions for fast chargers for electric trucks and charging infrastructure for heavy-duty transport.
